What's 'The Rainmaker' about?

The original novel by John Grisham follows a young man named Rudy Baylor who thought he'd "breeze" through law school and cash in on a solid life.
"Now, he doesn't have a job or a prayer–except for one: an insurance dispute that leaves a family devastated and opens the door for a lawsuit, if Rudy can find a way to file it," the synopsis reads.
The case involves his clients, Dot and Buddy Black's son, Donny Ray, who is dying of leukemia. Yet, the family's insurer has refused to pay for Donny's medical treatments, leading Rudy to realize that he stumbled upon a massive insurance fraud.
As a brand-new lawyer (well, sort of, because he hasn't even passed the bar exam), Rudy finds himself out of his depth, confronted by a corporate defense team, and dragged into a web of lies. This case could either be the one that costs him his career or transforms him "into the biggest rainmaker in the land" as he works to expose a multibillion-dollar insurance scam.
Now, The Rainmaker TV series is set to draw inspiration from the iconic book that already gave way to an entire film back in 1997.
"Fresh out of law school, Rudy Baylor goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond as well as his law school girlfriend. Rudy, along with his boss and her disheveled paralegal, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client's son," the show's logline reads.

Milo Callaghan, a British TV and film actor, will be tackling the role of Rudy. Meanwhile, John Slattery is portraying Leo Drummond, and Madison Iseman will play Sarah Plankmore, Rudy's girlfriend.
Finally, Lana Parilla has been cast as Jocelyn "Bruiser" Stone, Rudy's new boss. Other cast members include P.J. Byrne, Wage Briggs, Dan Fogler, and Robyn Cara.
